Sam is on target as usual.

I agree with S Malone on this one. If it is illegal to fly over military bases, other federally own property like the Capitol, electrical grids, manufacturing sites of military weapons, and other sensitive areas that require constant security against hostile actors, then any drone doing so must be shot down. No pilot on board so no one killed - safe and not sorry later. Fly your drone illegally and you've lost your right to fly it, period

I assume that Congress gave the FAA free rein to construct appropriate regulations. If it did, that was irresponsible on their part and the FAA has failed its duty to allow important security measures to be enacted at the time of a security break.

The world is full of bad actors and regulations that show the USG is serious about securing the nation from harm is a reasonable form of peace through strength. Let's use it.

Perhaps if the FAA rules on shooting down drones weren't so draconian, we would not have this problem when it comes to drones flying over military bases and critical infrastructure. For example, if a drone is flying towards the Pentagon, it cannot be shot down until the security forces at the Pentagon "convince" some FAA bureaucrat the drone poses a threat even though the area around the Pentagon is restricted air space. The FAA is creating a problem because they are more concerned about the drone flyer in a park than national security.
