This article is intended as a response to the piece published by Cipher Brief on July 16, 2025, by retired senior intelligence officer Mark Kelton entitled CIA’s Latest Existential Challenge.
You are correct and the problem I believe runs deeper. The CIA and other arms of the IC have been proven to have interfered domestically for decades, back to the 1960s and perhaps the 1950s. We are learning more details these days ( which were buried before) because of the nature of society, news and electronic media. There is a storied history and culture within the IC ( and now the DOJ and Judicial branch it seems, Boasberg, , Sotomayor, Jackson and scores of others) that the bureaucracies knows better and needs to protect Americans from themselves. While some aspects around the edges of this may have some intellectual merit, the whole of it is ultimately fatal to a constitutional republic.
We have witnessed a treasonous conspiracy against the Government of the United States, the tip of a very large iceberg with Global roots. To ferrit out and mitigate will be a long drawn out battle that MUST be foight and won. Hopefully this generationhas the Spiritual will to make it happen
The gentleman’s letter lost credibility at “ As of late”.
To this day Pat Moynihan remains among my top five American heroes. He made the case to abolish the CIA in two separate published editorials. The first in 1991 , the second in 1995, but his skepticism began during his role in the Kennedy admin. And then the Nixon admin, Carter admin ( which Moynihan deemed the greatest regret of his career). But it was the Iran-Contra cover up that pushed him a step too far. He sought out Barry Goldwater and apprised him of the cover up. Though they differed on many issues, both were extremely scrupulous and had deep seeded concerns about the machinations of the UN, Trilateral Commission , Intel agencies -particularly the CIA. Moynihan and Goldwater met with Reagan and presented an ultimatum. Come clean and save his legacy or they would go to the press. Reagan saved his legacy. With the fall of the Soviet Union , Moynihan advised the Reagan administration to end the CIA. The mission it had been tasked with was over and it was now an expired entity that was seeking to create discord. Moynihan also implored Reagan to limit NATO to reunified Germany. By 1996, Moynihan called to break up the FBI, replacing it with the U.S. Marshal Service in locations scattered throughout American, removed from DC. He and Goldwater also opposed the Civil Rights Act. Goldwater saw it as unconstitutional .Moynihan saw it as a cynical political vehicle for Johnson and the Dems that would deliberately keep Black Americans in a cycle of poverty, violence ,dependency -relegated to inner city ghetto life, destroy the nuclear family… contained. For votes. He coined the infamous phrase,” The Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations”. Ironically, Trump’s platform for Black American success-ending the cycle- Opportunity Zones, Apprenticeships, Criminal Justice Reform including vocational training and mentorship guaranteeing quality employment upon release and school choice were all Moynihan’s ideas . To create a level playing field that would make for a smooth transition before putting forth the very flawed bill.
Ergo, the author of the letter claiming “ as of late”, is far too late in the game and either disingenuous or has been in hibernation. I’m guessing the former. And I’m not terribly confidant in Trump, either. I gleaned shades of Moynihan when he ran in 2016. But Trump , who can’t possibly continue feigning ignorance , his Intel Chiefs refuse to take down Soros and Spawn,Neville Singham,Hatem Bazian,Reid Hoffman and the entire network of NGOs,” Philanthropies”, think tanks,advocacy orgs, “Charities”Foreign Agents..
And nary a single GOP “ elected representative”, candidate or spokesperson has uttered a peep about the UN Agenda 2030/WEF Great Reset/Rockefeller Lockstep or the Red/Green Alliance of Marxism/ Political Islam movement that has been deliberately imported to take down America , the West and the rest of the world … by the globalist elites. Anybody who wants to “ Save America” should start by ending the UN, NGOs and all the “ ancillaries”. Foreign funding… follow the money ,cut off the the tentacles and Medusa’s head. That we have allowed the Muslim Brotherhood and its enormous terror network to beset American soil is the greatest betrayal to”We The People” perpetrated by those who take the oath to protect us from enemies foreign and domestic.

Well said Sam but all of this goes much deeper. The American society in general has lost its moral compass and has embraced the win at all costs, cheat if necessary, whatever it takes to win. Not all but a significant portion. Values used to matter, a man’s word was his honor. All gone with the wind. The society that now occupies America only seem interested in politics on Election Day and then only that “my choice” wins. The fact that USAID was able to operate and disburse billions without oversight says it all. Political ideology has completely transformed our government and agencies. People think Trump will rectify that are delusional. Some yes but there are still brave whistleblowers from the very agencies you speak of that have yet to be reinstated. These people are deeply embedded. God help and bless the honest ones.
Seems to me like an easy fix to the problem, simply dispose // dispatch all of the individuals involved, Tony Soprano style would send a clear message and restore American confidence.
Why do we need a CIA? I think that the CIA has no place in republic because of the nature of human nature. It will always keep everything secret and without accountability, it will naturally devolve to an authoritarian power. A secret agency like the CIA is like a ticking time bomb in any republic. Whatever purpose they serve is not worth a ticking time bomb that will necessarily metastasize to threaten the very existence of our republic. They had a hand in killing a President 60 years ago. Literally a coup. It took more than 60 years to get an administration brave enough and with the motivation to expose the CIA. We should learn our lesson and abolish the CIA.
